CIVIC EDUCATION
Fair Representation
We won't be silenced! In September 2023, Center for Latino Leadership members held a press conference about recent developments that threaten the seat of Senator Nikki Torres, the only elected Latina senator in Eastern Washington. The redrawing of legislative districts could dilute our political influence.
Let Us Work
Washington state's new overtime law has left farmworkers struggling, unable to work the hours they need to support their families. Despite overwhelming support, proposed relief measures have stalled in Olympia, leaving workers pleading for the freedom to earn a living. It's time to listen and let them work!
Latino Leader’s Day
Latino Leaders Day is CLL’s signature civic education experience designed to equip our community with the knowledge, confidence, and connections to lead. Participants gather at the Washington State Capitol for a full day of engagement, starting with a current affairs briefing and presentations from local Latino leaders on the most pressing issues facing our communities. Together, we brainstorm solutions, learn how policy impacts our daily lives, and explore ways to get involved.
